Chehalis River Bridge 2 RepairOwner: Weyerhaeuser CompanyContractor: Carter & Company Inc. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
McGee Engineering designed an approach span to restore access to a flood-damaged bridge over the Chehalis River near Pe Ell, Washington. The approach fill had been washed out during a flood in December 2007 when one span of the bridge plugged with debris. The repair used steel girders and stay-in-place deck forms to provide a 50’ span which accommodates the existing 45-degree skew. One end of the span is founded on driven pile, while the other end bears on a concrete corbel attached to the existing concrete pier to minimize in-water construction impacts.
