Civil Engineers Serving the Northwest

Dennis McGee, P.E.

Principal Engineer

Dennis McGee graduated from South Dakota State University in 1968 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, spending his college summers laying out forest roads and bridges for the USFS in the Snoqualamie National Forest. After two years of bridge design work with HNTB in Minneapolis, Dennis and his wife, Mary Ann, relocated to Eugene, Oregon, and worked at Oregon Bridge Engineering Company (now OBEC Consulting Engineers). After five years at OBEC, he left the design work to gain more hands-on experience with bridge construction, and spent the next nine years working with Gale M. Roberts Co. and Hamilton Construction. In that capacity, Dennis worked on the construction projects as a superintendent, provided project management, and assisted with estimating and bidding. In 1984, he left to work on his own designing bridges, providing construction management services and construction engineering services. Except for a brief interlude in 1990-1992 working for a consulting firm, he has continuously worked in his own firm providing design services. In 1994 he formed McGee Engineering, incorporating in 2006 as McGee Engineering, Inc. He and Mary Ann have been married 44 years and have three children and four grandchildren.

Alex Dunn, P.E.

Vice President

Alex graduated from Oregon State University in 2003 with a BS in Civil engineering and a BS in Forest Engineering. During college his summer work included commercial construction, timber cruising, forest road and harvest unit layout, and bridge construction inspection. Since graduating from OSU, he has applied his engineering training at McGee Engineering to a variety of bridge engineering disciplines. He specializes in bridge condition inspections, prestressed concrete girder design and detailing, falsework design, bridge demolition and erection planning, and permanent bridge design in off-highway applications.

Bridger Johnson, P.E.

Vice President

Bridger has a background in construction and engineering. He graduated from Oregon State University in 2002 with a BS in Civil engineering. Bridger has been with McGee Engineering since graduation, gaining hands-on experience performing site surveys and designing temporary and permanent bridges. Additional experience has been gained in contractor support engineering, including work bridges, bridge erection plans, demolition and containment plans, excavation shoring, falsework, and concrete and geotextile retaining walls. He has worked extensively with steel, wood, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete.

Garret Ellingson, P.E.

Engineer

Garret graduated from Oregon State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with Summa Cum Laude honors. While always aspiring to develop innovative solutions, he has gained proficiency in structural design using steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, wood, masonry, aluminum, composite and other building materials. Garret is fluent in both AASHTO (bridge) and IBC (building) code requirements. He has practiced efficient design of public and private bridge structures and provides contractor support for falsework design, cost comparisons for structural alternatives, demolition engineering and more. For commercial and residential building design, he is skilled in interior and exterior space planning, construction document preparation, local development code implementation, zoning ordinance compliance, functionality and aesthetic considerations, fire and life safety requirements, ADA compliant design, phased construction options, site grading design, constructability and feasibility studies, cost estimating and more.

Jim Gibeau

Inspector

Jim is a certified FHWA Bridge Inspector and a certified ODOT Bridge Construction Inspector. He has been with McGee Engineering since 2004 performing bridge condition inspections, topographic surveys, and construction inspection.
