Project Summary:
West Valley Estates is a new housing development in Millersburg where a bridge was needed to span over a wetland area and provide access for the housing development. McGee Engineering coordinated with the developer (Pacific National Development), the site project civil engineer (Multi/Tech Engineering Services, Inc.), The City of Millersburg, and the Contractor (Salem Concrete Paving) to bring the project all together.
To help with cost, the project team desired a solution emphasizing constructability through simplicity and accelerated construction schedule. Standard ODOT detailing was used for consistency with nearby bridges, including precast prestressed slabs and flush mounted combination bridge rail. Cast-in-place sills were utilized to enhance the constructability of the project and eliminate the need for expensive pile driving. The finished bridge surface includes an asphalt overlay for protection from wear on the bridge.
